Beef and Gravy Served Over Mashed Potatoes Recipe

Ingredients

For the Mashed Potatoes:

4-5 russet potatoes, peeled and diced

2 tablespoons of butter

1/2 cup of milk (additional as needed)

Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Ground Beef and Gravy:

1 pound of lean ground beef

1 onion, chopped (optional, depending on personal preference)

2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour

1 cup of beef broth

1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon of onion powder

Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

For the Mashed Potatoes:

1. Place the peeled and diced potatoes into a large pot filled with salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, approximately 15-20 minutes.

2. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.

3. Incorporate the butter and milk into the potatoes, mashing until smooth. Add more milk if necessary to achieve the desired texture.

4. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Cover and keep warm.

For the Ground Beef and Gravy:

1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

2. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion (if using) and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

3. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir to coat. Cook the flour for 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw flavor.

4. Gradually whisk in the beef broth, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.

5. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Allow the gravy to simmer for 2-3 minutes, or until it thickens.

6. Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet, stirring to combine with the gravy.

To Serve:

1. Place a generous serving of mashed potatoes on a plate.

2. Spoon the ground beef and gravy mixture over the mashed potatoes.

3. Serve warm and enjoy!
