Apple Dumplings Recipe
Ingredients
– 2 Granny Smith apples
– 1 cup water
– 1/2 cup sugar
– 1 stick of butter
– 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 can of refrigerated biscuits (Pillsbury is recommended)
– 4 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare the Apples:
– Core and peel the apples.
– Cut each apple into eighths lengthwise.
– To prevent browning, place the apple slices in a bowl of cold water until ready to use.
3. Make the Sauce:
– In a saucepan, combine the water, sugar, butter, and vanilla extract.
– Heat over medium heat, stirring until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat.
4. Prepare the Biscuits:
– Remove the biscuits from the can and flatten each biscuit slightly.
– Sprinkle a tablespoon of ground cinnamon over the biscuits.
5. Wrap the Apples:
– Place a few slices of apple in the center of each biscuit.
– Fold the biscuit over the apple slices and pinch to seal. Repeat with all the biscuits and apple slices.
6. Arrange in a Baking Dish:
– Place the wrapped dumplings in a greased baking dish, seam side down.
– Pour the warm sauce evenly over the dumplings.
7. Bake:
– Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown.
8. Serve:
– Let the dumplings cool slightly before serving. They can be enjoyed warm, and you may serve them with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
