Pepper Steak with Rice
Ingredients:
– 1 lb (450g) beef steak, thinly sliced
– 2 bell peppers, sliced (preferably one red and one green for color)
– 1 onion, thinly sliced
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 tablespoon soy sauce
– 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
– 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
– 1 teaspoon cornstarch, dissolved in 2 tablespoons water
– 1 cup rice, cooked according to package instructions
– Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
2. Add the sliced beef to the skillet and season with a little salt and pepper. Cook until browned on both sides, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
3. In the same skillet, add the onion and garlic and sauté until softened, about 2-3 minutes.
4. Add the bell peppers and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until slightly softened but still crisp.
5. Return the beef to the skillet and add the soy sauce and oyster sauce. Stir well to combine.
6. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for another minute, or until the sauce has thickened.
7. Serve the pepper steak over the cooked rice.
